OCD Level 1 - Treating the symptoms of OCD through Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.
This intensive course will provide in-depth education on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), thoroughly discuss the research based treatments used to manage the diagnosis, and walk each participant through the process of building and practicing basic exposure work. Participants are encouraged to bring a plus one, for the purpose of learning how to support an individual diagnosed with OCD. This is a fun, interactive course for anyone wanting to learn about the diagnosis and treatment of OCD. Participants will gain a clinical knowledge of OCD, have an understanding of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and gain experience in the application of exposure work.
Course Content
OCD Level 1 is a 3 hour intensive training on identifying and treating the diagnosis of OCD.
Block 1- The first block will walk each participant through the diagnostic criteria of OCD, the differences between OCD and an anxiety disorder, and how Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) is used to treat the disorder. The first Half of the training will also focus on both common and taboo obsessions, compulsive behaviors, and how to identify them. Lastly, the instructor will discuss how to communicate about obsessions and engage the fears.
Block 2 - The second block will be dedicated to understanding hierarchy and exposure work. Attendees will participate in hierarchy building, creating individual exposures, and practice exposing to OCD obsessions.
Schedule
2:00-2:15 pm - Meet and greet. Participants will take 15 minutes to introduce themselves and say hello.
2:15-3:00 pm - Education on the diagnosis of OCD, discussion on obsessions and compulsions, and Q&A
3:00-5:00 pm - Hierarchy building and participation in exposure work
