Have you been searching through counselors for anxiety, only find therapists who provide nothing but talk therapy? Your clinician at Salt City Mental Health recognizes talk therapy alone does not work for anxiety. Although this form of therapy may provide relief for a short period of time, the anxiety always returns. Those who participate in the Anxiety Management Program (AMP), will receive extensive training on their diagnosis, and intensive, customized treatment that is designed to meet the individual needs of each client.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Specific Phobias

Dermatillomania (Skin-Picking Disorder)
What to expect from AMP
You will be actively involved from the initial assessment to the completion of the program. You and your therapist will create and execute a treatment plan customized to meet your individual needs and diagnosis. Before beginning AMP you will need to meet with a Slat City Mental Health provider for an initial assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to identify the type of anxiety that you are facing, provide education on the diagnosis, and prepare you to begin AMP.
Once you have completed the assessment, you will choose a treatment option and be scheduled to begin. Treatment will involve psychoeducation, hierarchy building, participation in exposure work, psychotherapy, and assigned homework. Although many forms of treatment may be used during AMP, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the main focus.
Who you will meet with
At Salt City Mental Health you will meet with a licensed clinician for every session. AMP is designed to give you individual care that is effective and professional. Meeting with a licensed clinician ensures that you will have have an expert to answer your questions and guide you through the entire process.

Frequently asked questions Q: What is an exposure? A: An exposure is a behavioral approach designed to face ones fears. Q: What is a hierarchy? A: A hierarchy is a system created to help organize exposures based off of obsessional themes. Exposure steps will be listed in a hierarchy according to level of difficulty. Q: How long does the program last? A: The length of the program is based on the severity of the diagnosis. A trained clinician will assist in determining duration of treatment. Q: Why do I need to do multiple hours of treatment per week? A: Research has found that neuroplasticity (restructuring of thinking patterns) occurs at a faster rate with more intensive treatment. Q: Will insurance cover the cost of AMP? A: Most insurance companies will cover the first hour of treatment, per week. Because AMP is not considered an intensive outpatient program, insurance may not cover the full cost. Full payment is required at the beginning of each week. Q: Will my out of network benefits cover AMP? A: Many insurance companies will cover at least a portion of your treatment through out of network benefits. See the online scheduling and fees page for details.
